Item description for Step by Step Ct Scan (Step by Step S.) (Step by Step (Anshan)) (Step by Step (Anshan)) by D. Karthikeyan...
The purpose of this book is to introduce radiography technicians and residents in radiology to the ever growing field of computed tomography:- i.e. using computer analysis of x-rays to produce cross-sectional images or "slices", both horizontal and vertical, of the body taken at different angles. Other titles on the science of CT go into too much detail for the average reader. This handy to use pocket book provides the information necessary to manage a CT scan, covering all the topics involved, and also suggests guidelines for the planning of advanced CT studies. In full colour throughout, and with a free CD Rom containing the 62 figures in the book, "Step by Step CT Scan" is an excellent pocket reference for technicians and radiology residents.

Good book!! Feb 15, 2008
Good book for people who are already CT certified to refer...not the best book for CT students.

Overall this is an excellent little reference book to take along in clinical rounds. It will fit into your lab coat with no problems. Like it states it is intended for the Radiology Resident or the C.T. Technologist with some or little background on the basic principles. I had the other CT Technologist review this book at my site and they were in accord with having the preliminary background to apply and understand the theory. I would not recommend this book as an introductory level book unless you have a strong foundation in Computed Tomography. It is an excellent reference to have if you are working in the CT department and covers all aspects of this modality with an outstanding job in reviewing protocols. The step by step name does hold up to its title but I was hoping it would have done a better job explaining a CT pitch number with the new generation of multi-slice scanners. The CD-Rom is in a powerpoint presentation format and reviews instead of explaining the theory behind the subject. It will assist the technologist during examinations but will not replace the basic review books out in the field. This is why I gave it only three stars.
