Reviews - What do customers think about Executive Charisma: Six Steps to Mastering the Art of Leadership?

Excellent work!  Aug 26, 2008
The techniques written in this book should be practiced every day by every single person in the world.
Good advise as far as it goes but no help in gaining charisma  Aug 23, 2008
This book has good affirmations and follows Dale Carnegie's pattern, but if you want to really learn about charisma and train yourself to project it, then go to the expert, Doe Lang:

The New Secrets of Charisma : How to Discover and Unleash your Hidden Powers

Doe Lang will show you how to break through your inhibitions and be able to communicate with others in a forceful but charming way.
Important Concepts   Dec 31, 2007
This book does an excellent job of outlining the importance of "charisma" as it applies to becoming a successful leader. Any successful executive understands the critical nature of developing personal characteristics such as command presence, bearing, a strong personal brand, excellent interpersonal communication skills and a whole host of other traits that lead to the development of charisma. In my book Leadership Matters...The CEO Survival Manual: WHAT IT TAKES TO REACH THE C-SUITE AND STAY THERE I also address this topic in great detail. That being said, all the charisma in the world won't make you a great leader. While it may enhance what leadership ability you already possess, it pails in comparison to other more significant leadership traits. This book if taken in context and not as a panacea is a very good read.
Be all that you can be  Aug 29, 2007
Benton's advice is very much in line with Napolen Hill's and Dale Carnegie's: be friendly and give acceptance to maintain esteem; ask questions and favors; show weakness, be human; slow down, shut up and listen. The author expands on each of these points and more, and provides great overview and examples on every topic. It's a great refresher, and a well-written book.
Stretching Good Material  Dec 13, 2006
Deborah Benton is a serious student of what makes successful business people successful, and her book 'How to Think Like a CEO" reflects the seriousness and depth of her work there.

This book, on the other hand, is a very long hike for a very small picnic. She has essentially re-worked very familiar ground for her into a book that simply doesn't have enough to say to fill its length.

There are times, for example, when while reading, one realizes that the last paragraph has been nothing but semi-connected quotes from people in the large archive of Ms. Benton's interview files. It doesn't really go together and it doesn't really make any new points.

I would strongly recommend 'How to Think Like a CEO' but I would definitely not recommend this book.
