Item description for Cat by Craig Smith Mike Dumbleton...
"Cat. Dog. Tall Tree. Thank goodness for that!"
A cat's life is not all fun and games, or even all milk and mice. With very few words used to convey all kinds of action, Mike Dumbleton's sparse yet descriptive text joins perfectly with Craig Smith's whimsical illustrations. Cat will have young listeners on the edges of their seats, ready to join Cat...thank goodness for that!

This book is awsome. The pictures alone are great and tell most of the story, which is good for very young children. The text is very short, excellent thing for toddlers, who usually have a very short attention span, and for beginning readers. Both categories of readers will also appreciate the frequent repetitions and the predictability. I bought two, one for my child and one for a friend of mine who does nt speak English, and I'm buying two more to give as birthday presents fro children under 5. I would also recommend this book as one of the first Englsh books to absolute beginner learners of English and as a gift to the serious cat lover.

Cat written by Mike Dumbleton and illustrated by Craig Smith is a scarcely worded picture book with a lot of action. The big, orange striped cat has the most wonderful expressions and green eyes. The story is a simple series of cat and mouse type chases scenes with a refrain of "Thank goodness for that!" This story could work equally well for emergent literacy as it has only about a 30-word vocabulary or as a read aloud where listeners will love joining in on the refrain. Cat is a unique and fun read!
