Item description for Intelligent Design Vs. Evolution: Letters to an Atheist [With DVD] by Ray Comfort...
Overview Ray Comfort carries on a long e-mail conversation with a self-avowed atheist who thinks Ray is a complete idiot in believing that the universe was created by God. Ray doesn't hit the delete button. Instead, he patiently answers the man's challenges one by one. As the conversation progresses, the atheist's confidence in his own beliefs begins to waver.
The debate is passionate, heated, personal, tender, humorous, and engaging. Ray punctuates each point he makes with an aside for the reader, explaining his rationale and giving the reader generous resource material. The net effect is a lesson in evangelism?perhaps the most unusual ever constructed.

Reviews - What do customers think about Intelligent Design Vs Evolution?
Ray is a comfort to a fool. Jan 18, 2007
I honestly really love reading. I often times read books on subjects I have little interest in just to see if I might develop something for the subject. I didn't necessarily read this book for that reason, however, as I didn't expect that a non-biologist and non-scientist would be able to convince me of the efficacy of intelligent design given that men like Wells, Dembski and Behe had already failed to. I remained open to the prospect nonetheless. Since the book was published in 2006, I thought, at the very least, it might be of value in bringing to light a new twist or aspect to the whole intelligent design movement I had not yet been made aware of. It failed to succeed even at that.
To be brief, the book is basically a disjointed reprint of an e-mail correspondence/debate between Ray and an atheist he developed a friendship with. That's it. No arguments are made for intelligent design and neither man manages to gain a concession from the other. Supporters of the intelligent design movement will find value in it because... well, it supports intelligent design. Apart from that though, it does illustrate some of the more basic tricks employed by Christian fundamentalist apologists in ID vs evolution debates today. Aspiring evangelist crusaders should find value in learning some of these. Supporters of evolution seeking to educate themselves on creationist arguments will find absolutely nothing of value in this book. It's even less air than usual.
Why is this a book? Dec 31, 2006
I just finished reading this book. It is a poor example of how to do apologetics or intelligently witness to your friends, family, or people through online email exchanges. Ray never addresses his[the atheist in the book] questions or does not even try to dismantle the `atheists' thinking. Ray should either study apologetics and evangelism or either give up hope trying to Biblically give an apology (defense) for his faith. If you would like to learn how to defend the faith, look elsewhere (Every Thought Captive by Richard Pratt or Always Ready by Greg Bahnsen and for the evolution subject read any of Phillip Johnson's stuff). Do not let the title mislead you, go somewhere else for something worthwhile.
Not the Best Dec 27, 2006
I've read other works by Ray Comfort and am a big fan of his ministry, but this book was certainly not his best. It was good and it held my interest, but it could have been better as an apologetic tool. The writing can't be overly-criticized since it was originally a series of e-mails --- not a book --- and the atheist chose his own words, thus Comfort had to use what was said. The footnotes are good, but sometimes are too long and make use of some questionable sources. I recommend Answers in Genesis and the Institute for Creation Research as the best places to go for young Earth creationist apologetics.
This is a stupid book Dec 25, 2006
I've only gotten about 20 pages in so far, but this is the worst example of someone "definding" ID, or "criticizing" Evolution I've ever heard. The book is essentially a lenghty exchange of email, not unlike something you'd see on talk.origins. Well, very much unlike, as you're not likely to find many idiots the caliber of Mr. Comfort. He fails, time and again, to even address the very simple questions asked of him by "James D. Franz" (not his real name), showing only one or two sentences of his replies (which are typically just snarky nonsense.)
There is nothing of value in here if you hope to learn something other than what a moron with a computer sounds like. Your $10 is better spent lighting a cigar, and that assumes you'll get cancer from said cigar.
Breath Of Fresh Air Nov 4, 2006
In today's confusing world of mixing fantasy with Bible scripture it's refreshing to hear Biblical truth again. Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron almost have the market cornered telling the most effective way for Christians to share their faith, and how to know a true conversion.
"Intelligent Design" is filled with examples and anecdotes on Ray's years of experience sharing the Gospel. I can't wait for his next book.
For the best study program for ANY Christian, I recommend:
