Great Way to End the Series May 28, 2010
This was my favorite book of the series. I felt that it had all the right elements of a suspense novel. There was just enough suspense and action with the right amount of scare factor without being over dramatic or unbelievable. I really liked the inclusion of the blog in this book. It was very unique to bring it into the story because the gunmen didn't really know how it worked. Therefore even in times of great suspense there was humor because of general bafflement on both sides.
The strength of the novel for me was the inclusion of all the characters that have been featured throughout the series. To some, this might be overwhelming but if you can keep track, it's wonderful to see everyone included. No one gets left out as each character gets their point of view shown. The situation with the gunmen and hostages is something that's taken right from the headlines. Therefore I felt that it was the most realistic situation out of all the other books in the series. I felt really drawn into the story and could connect with everyone. I found myself getting frustrated with the gunmen but only because I didn't have all the details. It was very nerve wracking reading the book!
This is a Christian suspense novel but I didn't feel this book, as the same with the other books in the series, to be preachy at all. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I personally thought it was the best book of the series. I really liked seeing the entire Kanner Lake gang together. Everyone is really close and seeing them having to depend on each other in a time of great need was very moving. As this is the fourth book, I would recommend reading the other three books in the series first. This is because this book is about the townspeople and to fully understand them you need to read the other books to get a feel of their characters. I'm sad that this is the last book but I felt that Collins gave the town and the characters a fitting end. Hopefully one day a return will happen in the near future.
Hostage Situation In A Small Town Apr 12, 2009
I loved this book. It is the first one I ever read by Brandilyn Collins but I will be reading more. "Amber Morn" is filled with action and suspense brought about through a hostage situation in a small town at a café where older people do a blog together. I finished reading this book in just two days. It held my interest and I was anxious to keep on reading. It is the last book in the Kanner Lake Series but I still enjoyed it even though I hadn't read the other three first. It has Christian overtones through it but does not preach at all. I liked the way it ended too.
Great Ending to the Series Feb 2, 2009
Wow, what a series! I have finished the book Amber Morn, which is the fourth and final book in the Kanner Lake Series by Brandilyn Collins. Brandilyn is known for her trademark Seatbelt Suspense and once again with Amber Morn she did not disappoint.
This was a fantastic ending to the series. It was thoroughly engaging and very dramatic. All of the main characters, as well as some minor ones were featured throughout. All of the Java Joint regulars gather for a celebration, but are stopped before they really even get going, becoming hostages in a nightmare experience. The drama is intense, with a surprising twist at the very end. There are lots of twists and turns which are always a plus. I really enjoyed this book and am a bit saddened to see the series come to an end.
the last in a thrilling series! Nov 6, 2008
Amber Morn is the final book in the Kanner Lake series by Collins.
The story is gripping, perhaps more so because I have read the first three books in the series, Violet Dawn, Coral Moon, and Crimson Eve. By now, I feel like I "know" the characters. I found myself looking at the story in a more personal way, because I have been able to 'connect' with them through the previous books. A roller coaster ride for sure! Lots of ups and downs, and twists and turns keep your interest. A great end to a great series. But I have to admit, I am going to miss 'Kanner Lake' and the Java Joint group. Again...if you love suspense - this book is for you! I'm glad I purchased them, because I will be re-reading each of them from time to time.
Great Ending to a series! Oct 8, 2008
I hate to see this series come to an end. But, I guess it has to sometime. Only so much can go wrong in one little town. I was a little apprehensive about this book, I thought it was going to be a little boring since it was only about one incident. But, I found it to be a page turner. I would highly recommend it if you have read the others in this series.
