Item description for Birds of Iberia by Clive Finalyson...
The books examines 150 bird species of special interest and the main areas where they can be found. The desciptions give an indication of the status of each species within Iberia and of their more global context. Other bird species which have been recorded in Iberia are also listed and their status summarized. This is a major reference work for those planning to watch birds on the Iberian Peninsula. The book is an appreciation of the extraordinarily rich and varied birdlife of Iberia and a plea for conservation of both species and landscape.

Reviews - What do customers think about Birds of Iberia?
Attractive photo guide of some Iberian birds Jun 27, 2008
Basics: 2003, 1st edition, softcover, 217 pages, 150+ color photos; additional 20 black-and-white line drawings; 150 species; no range maps
Referring to the European peninsula of Portugal and Spain, Birds of Iberia focuses on its quality photos to attract the reader. The book is not meant to be a field guide or to cover all 450+ species in the region. Instead, it displays wonderful color photos of "birds of interest" that are found in this region and over the various habitats.
Each bird is shown in 2-6 paragraphs that discuss its general behavior, habitat, and physical description. Some species receive a little more attention along with general notes presented about their populations or seasonal appearances. These additional notes are one of the ways the book makes an effort to draw the reader's attention to conservation.
This book will appeal to people with a special interest in the Iberian region or to those people who simply appreciate a coffee table book of birds with good photos.
