Item description for Handbook of Psychology and Diabetes: A Guide to Psychological Measurement in Diabetes Research and Practice by Clare Bradley...
Journal articles describing the psychometric development of scales rarely include the scales themselves. Potential users of the scales have had to contact individual researchers in order to see the actual instruments. The Handbook includes copies of the scales presented in the chapters. It is designed to help researchers and clinicians a) to select scales suitable for their purposes, b) to administer and score the scales appropriately, c) to interpret the results appropriately. This handbook provides access to a wide selection of psychological measures for use in diabetes research and clinical practice. Information about the reliability, validity, scoring, norms, and use of the measures in previous research is assimilated in one volume. Much of this information has not previously been published elsewhere. Contributors have included published information about their scales which has previously been widely dispersed throughout the medical and psychological literature, together with unpublished info

A very specific yet useful handbook Feb 21, 2001
This book is invaluable for people who work in diabetes education and who often think about doing behavioural research. Bradley provides an excellent introduction into the psychometric concepts involved in designed questionnaires and other kinds of measures. This is not a book examining psychological aspects of diabetes but rather a compendium of diabetes-specific measures (including quality of life, psychological functioning, attitudes and beliefs and behavioural outcomes).
