Item description for The Jesus Priorities: 8 Essential Habits by Christopher Maricle...
Overview "What would Jesus do?" is a great guiding question for living the Christian life, but it presupposes that we know the Bible well enough to come up with the answer. Maricle helps by mapping out the main priorities Jesus modeled in his life and ministry. He begins by asking a simple question: "What did Jesus most frequently and consistently say and do during his public ministry that would be instructive for us?" A formal analysis of the Gospels yields 8 priorities to emulate: healing, love, prayer, confidence in the treasures in heaven, oneness with God, spreading the word, innocence, and humility. Maricle shapes these principles into a handbook for discerning right living in relation to God and others according to the ministry of Christ. It's a warm-hearted, straightforward read, with discussion grounded in down-to-earth examples from preschoolers, Mother Teresa, Brother Lawrence, and baseball. His rock-solid essentials help one recognize oneself and find energy for the challenges of the authentic Christian life. This book can be used as a personal spiritual survival guide, a small group study, or a church-wide challenge. Succinct summaries, questions, prayers, and scripture charts help readers internalize and articulate these faith essentials.

Reviews - What do customers think about The Jesus Priorities: 8 Essential Habits?
Christian discipleship Apr 23, 2010
Great study book for a discipleship class. With good insight, Maricle lists eight things Jesus consistently said and did during his public ministry so that those who follow him have a clear map to better following Jesus' ways. Christians who yearn to grow closer to God by living a life pleasing to God will enjoy this clearly written book. The evening study group at my church certainly does!
Life and Congregation changing book. Aug 15, 2009
I found this book by accident, and purchased a copy. As a pastor I have several books tossed across my desk, and few touch me as this one has. I have purchased almost ten copies, and people in my church have purchased more. I'm planning on using this for a sermon and study series, and I have read and re-read for my own personal journey. The author has found a way to step outside of the usual church methodology book, and move head first into a book that makes us look at Jesus' teachings and priorities in a new and faithful way. This book is organized, and carefully prepared. However, it is also very personal and tends to climb into your heart and tug. As a pastor I highly recommend this book to everyone. As a Christian I highly recommend you read this and buy a copy for your pastor. To the Author, thank you for speaking to those of us who still seek to know Christ in a personal and real way.

Good foundation on which to build Aug 29, 2008
If one is looking to create a spiritual practice, there are some very good guidelines here. The author has literally quantified the number of times certain things are mentioned in the New Testament, thereby creating a hierarchy of practices that Jesus recommended. This slim volume is to the point, recommending and justifying certain actions in our daily living. It is a lovely springboard from which to create a personalized spiritual practice.
