Item description for In a Heartbeat by Christa Eckert-Blum...
Overview How would they escape the Russian invasion? How would they get to America? Many questions plagued Christa Eckert's family as they faced the upheaval of World War II, losing everything in a heartbeat. Though of noble ancestry, descended from the Teutonic Knights who Christianized the Baltic regions of Europe, the Red Army gave no special favors to aristocrats in their quest to make all men "equal." Witness God's leading as He brought them to America as the last German-Estonian immigrants allowed to enter under a special quota for displaced families. In this story of survival, Christa shares remarkable stories of the Lord's leading throughout her life. Be encouraged by her story of faith and God's amazing provision as she recalls the highlights of her life when she could have perished In a Heartbeat, yet God had another plan.

Reviews - What do customers think about In a Heartbeat?
A personal voyage from the baltics Dec 26, 2005
Perhaps because I am an Estonian American who grew up in Lakewood, Ohio, I found this book to be difficult to put down, so I read it all at once, and enjoyed it immensely. Ms. Eckert-Blum describes her experiences growing up in war time Riga and the DP camps in Germany, and her voyage to New York and Cleveland. It is an inspirational book I look forward to reading again.
