Great book series Nov 20, 2007
These books are not just for boys. We've bought all these books for our daughter and she has loved everyone. We started reading them to her at age 4 and she's now age 6 and looks forward to every release.
"Awesome Book" Jun 10, 2006
I bought this book for my 7 year old son as a gift in Roswell, NM. He could not put it down, and even read some outloud to us in the car on the drive back. Then he and his big brother (12 years old) started fighting over who got to read it. They even worked together (that RARELY happens!) to solve the riddle in code. They could not wait to get home and see if the next book was out and available, and were disappointed that is not out yet. We will be pre-ordering it (the next one). This book makes a great gift!!!! We very rarely find books that both boys like, due to age difference. I HIGHLY recommend this book, and can't wait till the second one is released in August.
Charming chapter book rates high for light hearted adventure Nov 7, 2005
This is a fun book for young readers or as a read aloud for younger children who are not at this reading level. Written by an aerospace engineer who has 17 patents to his name, this book is both a rolicking adventure and (more subtly) a mind expanding treatise on physics. The author tells me that nothing that happens in the book is impossible from a physics point of view, though there are several things we don't know how to do yet. Afer reading the book, I quizzed him about a few events in the book that didn't seem possible, but he assured me they were - according to physics. So this is a fun way to contemplate the ever growing wonders of physics. But never mind that, children won't know - they'll just enjoy the ride. The plot concerns two boys camping out who spot a UFO and meet a friendly but eccentric ET who takes them on a mad archeological adventure to the moon. Illustrated on every page with charming cartoon-like drawings by Chris Braun, a Boeing graphic designer, this book is a bargain at $4.99. And don't forget the alien alphabet with code breaker that kids can use to make their own codes. As the owner of a bookstore I read a lot of children's books. This one for the 7- 10 year old range (or younger for a read aloud) is up there with the best for pure adventure.
A great adventure for kids! Aug 25, 2005
A fantastic book for transitional readers. Lots of great illustrations. A wonderful story that introduces Science Fiction and Fantasy to young readers. Lost City of the Moon, takes the reader on journey that will inspire imaginations and leave them wanting more. The book contains a complete alien alphabet. Each chapter has a word to decode. The decoded words provide a clue to the heros next adventure. All in all, a fun book with very charming illustrations.
