Item description for Reclaiming Your Christian Self in a Secular World: A Woman's Bible Study by Cheryl Dickow...
More than ever before, we are longing to understand God's unique plan for our lives. We are questioning how to live, more completely, as He commands. The Holy Spirit has placed a sense of urgency upon our hearts that calls us to return to God's Word as our source of wisdom and guidance. We find through women like Ruth, Zipporah, Deborah, and Noah's wife how God supports and encourages us on our own individual journeys. Ultimately we believe that, as we pursue the Father, He will be true to His word as given to us in Hebrews 11:6. "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Reclaiming Your Christian Self in a Secular World inspires women to renew their commitment to their Creator and to their Christian identity. It helps them to answer the call that God has put on their lives. Reclaiming Your Christian Self in a Secular World clearly identifies the characteristics that the Lord values, as seen through the examples of women in Scripture, and gives meaningful ways for women to bring these traits into their daily lives."A `must-read' for today's Christian woman. The perfect book for our women's group." Pam "A wonderful book with something for every woman." Kathy

An Inspiring Read Jan 4, 2007
It was very inspiring and enjoyable and is an excellent suggestion to pass on to our daughters. The comparison of the Bible as it pertains to todays woman and world was thought provoking and wonderful and educational.
great for private comtemplation Nov 4, 2006
This is a great little book to read, as the author intends, one section per week. I take this with me to weekly adoration hour at church and have really gotten a lot out of it. It is best read slowly in a quiet place, when you are able to contemplate each bit in your own time. There are some surprising lessons to learn about famous and not-quite-so-famous women of the bible. There are multiple bible verses on each page to complement the reading, as well as suggestions and activities regarding applying the lessons into your daily life. An enriching "find" of a book.
Inspiring Aug 7, 2006
I thoroughly enjoyed Cheryl Dickow's latest book, "Reclaiming Your Christian Self in a Secular World: A Woman's Worth." In this book, I found support and encouragement for my own spiritual journey. It inspired me to more consciously consider the calling that God has for my life. Through the examples of women in Scripture, I've identified ways to practice some of their traits in my life. I especially liked the workbook format at the end of each chapter which helped me to focus in applying Scripture to my daily life. A truly inspiring book!
really rings true, easy to relate to your real life Aug 1, 2006
I loved this book and how it relates, in plain, easy to read language, with clear examples, how we can all become better human beings. The author's writing style is gentle, warm, non-judgmental, and very direct. She has a real passion for her topic that shines through every page. And the book is just plain interesting, keeping your attention throughout!
