Reviews - What do customers think about Morning And Evening-Black Imit?
Spurgeon counsels me. Sep 28, 2008
Each day for three years Spurgeon has spoken and continues to speak to my husband and I. How rich it is to be in the audience of this great man of the faith as we drink of his Godly wisdom. Most days his encouragement speaks directly to our current need and we feel as though God had him write this many years ago just for us. Everyone should have one and use it along with their Bible each day!
Spurgeon's Morning and Evening Sep 7, 2007
There is no finer devotional book than Charles H. Spurgeon's Morning and Evening. I purchased this for my wife as an anniversary gift (our 60th) and she has been enjoying it very much.
My sincere thanks to the one(s) from whom I purchased the devotional. It was sent soon after I made my order and came in good time. Thanks much.
Abridged and poorly proofed Feb 27, 2005
Spurgeon's material in "Morning and Evening" is excellent. This is not a review of his work. It is however a review of this particular edition.
Whitaker House has offered up an abridged version of the content and has done a very poor job of proofing it. I have found the book difficult to read, not because I have problems with British sentence structure of over a century ago, but because I often have to re-read a sentence to parse what it was supposed to say due to mistakes in typesetting or typographical errors.
Here is a sample from the February 24th morning reading, "He usually give it in such a measure that there is not room to receive it," or "'As thy day, so shall they strength be.'" (That should be "gives" and "thy strength".) This reads like your average 13-year-old's Internet post, not like the writing of a well-educated man of God that was published by someone that cared about what was being said.
My advice? Look for a better copy.
Exhortation~Encouragement Mar 26, 2000
Next to the Bible, this book of devotinals by Spurgeon has had a great impact on my Christian growth in Jesus Christ. It contains a devotional for each day, one for morning, one for evening. Spurgeons ability to glorify Jesus Christ through his writings reminds me of a praise song. When you read his writings, Jesus will be glorified in your heart. Spurgeon speaks the truth in love~encouraging you to seek the Lord~examine yourself~and press on ! I have given this book to many as a gift. I recommend it most highly !
