Reviews - What do customers think about Saving a Life: How We Found Courage When Death Rescued Our Son?
Christ-Centered Feb 8, 2010
I found this book heart breaking and encouraging at the same time. I have never experienced tragedy in my life, but after reading this book and knowing Janet and Charles personally, I know that no matter how awful things can get, Christ can and will always be the ultimate joy.
Wanted their sons story Nov 13, 2009
I have to say that I desperately wanted the story of their sons life and then their journey to find courage. It was a Sunday School class and bible stories. The parents never bring the reader into understanding the sons life and struggles, his story was sprinkled among bible verses and stories of Jesus. It seems that Jeff's life and death are lost in that. The summation of the book is your courage is found in prayer. That is it. I was hoping for more of a memoir/self-help.
Hope in a time of pain... Apr 3, 2008
Charles and Janet Morris received the most devastating phone call a parent can get. As parents, we expect to our children to survive us. Sadly, it does not always happen that way. We give birth and raise our children to the best of our abilities. We take them to church and teach them about the love of Jesus. However, we cannot save them. Only the redeeming grace of our Lord Jesus Christ can do that. In their time of anguish, Charles and Janet drew strength, courage, and hope from the scriptures. The story of Abraham and Isaac brought courage. C.S. Lewis story of The Silver Chair brought comfort. Janet clung to the promise, "His sins are forgiven, and his lawless deeds I will remember no more." (Hebrews 10:17)
My heart breaks for the Morris'. I can only imagine the pain of their loss. I admire the courage and faith they demonstrate in their book Saving a Life. They share their story with the hope of assisting others facing the loss of a loved one. This is a painful book to read, and yet it is a book of great hope. Through Christ, we are assured of salvation. Saving a Life is written in a simple, heartfelt way and is easy to understand. The Morris' share scriptures that brought them comfort. The message is the same no matter your loss, whether it is the loss of a child, spouse, or other loved one. There is grace through the resurrection.
This book is very well written and will help anyone going through a hard time in their lives. Feb 12, 2008
I got this book today and read it through. It is very well written and will encourage anyone going through any kind of trials. Especially those who have lost a loved one. I purchase a gift every year for good friends of ours who lost a son 15 years ago the month of February. I wanted to read it first before giving it to them. This book will be an encouragement to anyone. I can't wait to give it to my friends, I know it will help them and give them hope and peace. Thank you Charles and Janet for sharing your hearts for all of us to be helped and encouraged in times of trials. I highly recommend this book!
