Item description for A Voice in the Wilderness: God's Presence in Your Desert Places by Charles H. Dyer...
Overview Dyers asks: "Have you ever doubted God's wisdom or his goodness when walking through a dark valley of despair?" He teaches the truths of Isaiah 40, written for those who are discouraged and downhearted.
Publishers Description 'The Bible is not a sterile Book immaculately conceived in some sort of mystical, holy vacuum. Though God is the ultimate Author, He used human writers as His instruments. And to interpret properly His Word we must enter their world. The bleating of sheep on barren hills, the mournful wail of a ram's horn trumpet on the temple steps, the harsh clang of sword hitting sword in epic battle hang like tapestries in the background of every page.' - Excerpt from A Voice in the Wilderness Life's struggles can make us feel as if we're wandering in the desert, thirsty for hope and healing. Using Isaiah 40 as a backdrop, best-selling author Charles Dyer takes us on a journey through ancient Judea for a vivid reminder that others before us have known suffering - and, just as God was present for them in their pain, He will walk with us through our wilderness.

Reviews - What do customers think about A Voice in the Wilderness: God's Presence in Your Desert Places?
A Cool Drink of Water! Aug 24, 2004
A Voice in the Wilderness offers comfort to its readers just as Isaiah 40 comforted God's distressed people so long ago. Dr. Dyer provides a precise and very practical explanation of a great chapter in the Bible. As an experienced guide in Israel, he sheds light on Isaiah's imagery of the Judean wilderness in such a way that one can visualize the rugged terrain--and so better receive the message of comfort. I enjoyed the contemporary stories from real people who have lived the truth of Isaiah's words. Very readable, very practical and inspirational. Dr. Wayne Stiles, Denton, TX
