Item description for Where the Willows Whisper by Chad Arthur...
Overview Duke Giovanni would have been perfectly happy with a quiet childhood on his family's dairy farm in West Virginia. However, a quiet existence was never God's plan for Duke. He continuously finds himself in the middle of extraordinary circumstances that test all of his will and character. In his first novel, Where the Willows Whisper, author Chad Arthur combines humorous accounts of Duke and his friends' teenage years as they learn about life and love, with heart-wrenching moments that are also a real part of life's journey. Although Duke is a local hero and a standout athlete, his beliefs and morals are put to the test on numerous occasions. He learns the painful lesson that no one is out of tragedy's reach. In his darkest hours Duke will have to rely on the loyalty of true friends, the power of love, and the lessons he has learned at the place Where the Willows Whisper. Whether it's action, romance, or humor you're looking for, this coming-of-age tale has something for both genders and readers of all ages.

Take Me Home, Whispering Willows Jan 1, 2007
I recently finished reading this book, and I have to tell you over the past couple of evenings, I have been lost in the pages, totally absorbed in the story. Chad Arthur has written a story that can inspire the young and the old alike to notice and appreciate the people around us. Everyone knows a Duke Giovanni, and some who read may realize they are a Duke Giovanni. I will not forget the life lessons of faith, fear, friendship, heartache, and character that are taught in this book for as long as I live. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You Chad Arthur.
A book you can buy for your teenagers, and they'll like it!! Dec 10, 2006
It's hard to fine a book about young people that reflects decency and hard work, the joy and trauma of first love, and strength in hard times. This book has all of that and more. There's a lot of heart in this book.
A standing ovation! Oct 17, 2006
Where the Willows Whisper is a beautifully written novel about a boy coming of age in West Virginia. Once I opened the front cover I was COMPLETELY unable to put it down. Chad Arthur has a way of writing that makes you believe that you can almost smell the farms and hear the wind in the trees while the characters evolve into your friends. Where the Willows Whisper is a story filled with friendship, loyalty, love, struggle, heroism and hope. This is the type of book you read and suddenly think of five other people who you know would also love to read about these riveting characters and the triumphs and tribulations they encounter. This is a book for all ages. A refreshing story with none of the unnecessary violence and vulgar language that seems to flow so easily in most books. I hope Mr. Arthur has many more of these tales up his sleeve.
