Item description for The Fruitful Season: Prayers for the Autumn of Life by Catherine Whiteman...
As we battle age and illness, our physical abilities and influence diminish. It is exactly at this point, where loss meets hope, that you can experience eternal influence in the spiritual realm. When your ear is tuned to the still, small whisper of God's voice, the periods of crisis, illness, or old age become the most fruitful seasons of life. The Fruitful Season is a book that glorifies God through prayer, scripture and art.
"I read and really enjoyed The Fruitful Season: Prayers for the Autumn of Life. I found it to be very inspirational and I'm sure that many people will agree. The artwork is also fabulous, very beautiful and thought provoking. The book does a great job expressing the wonder and awe of the awareness of God all around us." -- Father Bill Matzek, Priest at St. Mary's - Big River, River Falls, WI
"An inspirational book of prayer from the heart of a woman who walks in the footsteps of Christ and opens herself to the life of the Spirit. Cathy's words along with David's illustrations show how God is alive and present in every moment of their lives. Her words remind us that we need only open our eyes and see God's presence around us and be still and know that God delights in each of us." -- Shirley Rowley, Pastoral Minister at the Church of St. Joseph, Rosemount, MN
"...Insightful and moving prayers of faith and trust, - beautifully crafted and fruitful for all seasons but most aptly enriching for the 'autumn' of life!" -- Pastor Paul A. Roe (Ret.) ELCA and Donna Roe (Ret.) high school teacher

This book is a real life story that I am confident would resonate with most readers as it did with me. There are really two stories of interest as you both read the book and begin to understand the relationship between author and illustrator.
The book itself offers personal reflections by the author that weave together a story about the challenges that life drops in all of our laps. More importantly is the underlying theme of her faith and how it has helped keep her strong and thankful for all the good in her life.
The second story is how the author and her son came together to combine her story with his tremendous artistic talent to provide a total package in terms of content and graphic design.
