Item description for The Purpose by Catherine Sterne & Albert Ketelby...
Mary has been living on the streets for almost as long as she can remember. Until, one night, when a nun picks her up from the street and saves her from a fate worse than death. Mary is grateful and joins the order. Then an unexpected visitor arrives at the convent. The abbess catches a young woman while she's trying to steal from the convent. She discovers Dawn is on drugs. A hard battle starts for the both of them. From the moment Dawn and Sister Mary meet, there's some strange attraction between the two of them. All is revealed when a ghost from the past shows up. When things are finally looking up again, something quite unexpected happens. Something that will affect the lives of every person both women have met on their way.

Reviews - What do customers think about The Purpose?
A book that once picked up, is hard to put down. May 7, 2001
This second book by Ms Sterne is a fascinating, and well considered insight into Convent life, and the work of the Nuns therein. In this book, a Nun recues a young girl from a life of prostitution. There are many twists and turns to the plot, which makes this book very difficult to put down, as you feel you have to find out what is going to happen next, in the sometimes tragic, sometimes humourous life of the nuns and the street people they care for. A book with a very unexpected ending that is well worth reading!
