Enjoyable read Dec 17, 2006
This is the first of Catherine Palmer's novels I've ever read, and while I was slightly disappointed, I'm very excited to read the rest of her collection! The story was very enjoyable (though unrealistic), and I loved the romance, but it was not written as well as I would have hoped, nor was it as deep.
I would still recommend this book, however, because I did like it very much, and I read it in almost one sitting!
Wonderful! Jan 31, 2006
I read the Publisher Weekly review when this book came out and thought another book whipped up to meet a deadline, no thank you! I was greatly mistaken! After just reading the other two books in the series I took the plunge and was not disappointed. This is a wonderful book from Catherine Palmer, very much up to her usual high standard. My only complaint with the book was with Ivy's parents, the believers, who kept trying to marry her off to scoundrels to ensure their future. That was only slightly addressed, while I wouldn't change that aspect of the book necessarily I would have liked it to have been more of an issue dealt with. (those dangling prepositions!)
Couldn't put it down! Oct 25, 2004
This book was one of the best books i have read in a long time. I picked it up and read the whole thing in 6 hours straight. The characters are real and the mystery and suspense keeps you turning the pages. I also liked the Biblical perspective of trying to find God's will. I am definitely going to be reading more of Catherine Palmer's books in the future.
Beautiful Heartwarming Book Jun 20, 2004
This book was a beautiful concoction of words. The characters were well rounded and powerful. Catherine Palmer really made me fall in love with the book. The love was pure and innocent, unlike many other romance novels. The religous value added a wholesome nature to it. I highly recommend this book to any one looking for a real innocent romance novel. Wonderful!
A delightful read Oct 2, 2003
More of Ms. Palmer's wonderful characterization and a charming supporting cast as well. Ivy's sisters and their reaction to her new place in the family are charming as is the dark, pirate of a hero who wants to please God, but skip the pleasantries. Like LOVE'S PROOF, this title showcases Ms. Palmer's flair for the period and her knack for writing about wonderful women across the ages.
