Item description for THE GREAT DIVIDE--VISITED by Catherine Bergstrom...
Overview This book was started with a question about my faith: Why had God seemed so remote most of my life? All those years I had been calling myself a Christian, attending church, praying daily, and raising my children in the church...where had He been? Why didn't I know about His grace, the Holy Spirit, the "living" Bible? I didn't even recognize that I had a question until after we lost our beloved son David when his Navy jet crashed. It was then I experienced God's great comfort and love in the most extraordinary ways, ways that were beyond imagining. As the months and years passed since that terrible loss, I didn't want to lose all the gifts I had received. I reflected on those gifts, read avidly, studied, and wrote whatever stories came to my remembrance. My answer was there for me to claim; God had always been present in my life. The Great Divide was my own creation. I hope some of my stories will stir remembrances of God's grace in your own life.

Drawing Closer to God Jan 25, 2008
The Great Divide Visited is so personal and so honest as it presents a series of vignettes tracing Catherine's journey after the death of her son, David, a Navy flyer. For anyone who has ever struggled with a loss, ever known grief, ever wondered where God was in anguish and sorrow, this book brings hope. There are no pat nor trite answers. Instead the reader is allowed to travel with Catherine as she recalls people, situations, writings and insights that helped her cross the Great Divide to healing and a closer relationship with God.
