Publishers Description This book is for you if your life is a series of shattered dreams. This book is for you if you have no dreams at all. It's for you if you've bought the lie that you'll never amount to anything. That's not true. Your life is BIG---far bigger than you've imagined. Inside these pages lie the keys to recognizing the full potential of your life. You won't necessarily become a millionaire (though you might), but you will attain a life that is rewarding, significant, and more fruitful than you ever thought possible. The author of this book knows about hardship. Ben Carson grew up in inner-city Detroit. His mother was illiterate. His father had left the family. His grade-school classmates considered Ben stupid. He struggled with a violent temper. In every respect, Ben's harsh circumstances seemed only to point to a harsher future and a bad end. But that's not what happened. By applying the principles in this book, Ben rose from his tough life to one of amazing accomplishments and international renown. He learned that he had potential, he learned how to unleash it, and he did. You can too. Put the principles in this book in motion. Things won't change overnight, but they will change. You can transform your life into one you'll love, bigger than you've ever dreamed.

Life Changing Jun 27, 2006
I read this book when encountering the crossroads of my own limited mindset. However, upon reading about Dr. Carson's life and philosophy I was drawn to this book and it has definitely been a catalyst in my personal and spiritual development. It's a small price to pay for something that can really help you...if you need it. Break out of that small mindset and get out there and do your best...then let God do the rest, as Dr. Carson says!
Recommended reading for students Apr 26, 2006
Since discovering the first printing of Dr. Carson's THINK BIG and GIFTED HANDS, I have been of the strong opinion that either or both should actually be required reading for middle school and high school students. I remember being forced to read Bulfinch's Mythology, The Scarlet Letter, and other really unhelpful books, to delve into them and learn everything about them--how does that help pre-teens and teens, who are starting to question who they are and where they belong in life? Those books were useless. But Dr. Carson has MANY real answers for us all, and I believe that if everyone read his books, there would be a lot less negativity in the world, and much more kindness, caring, and a sense of worth and purpose for every individual, and isn't that what we're all really looking for?
Awesome Apr 10, 2006
This book is awesome. Very good read. Very moving. Very real. Someone you wish you could meet. The book is just awesome to see a young man come from tenements to tops. I pray he continues to do a service to all people. Get the book and THINK BIG.
