Inspirational Nov 8, 2007
Carol Tuzinski has had some amazing experiences and has captured them in an inspiring book that is sure to touch the hearts of those who have suffered from the ravages of cancer and the loss of loved ones. Despite the seriousness of her themes, the writer is upbeat and demonstrates how her faith in God provided the hope she needed to gain victory. She never fails to recognize "angels" that God has sent to encourage and comfort her. From her online friends to her co-workers, from her doctors to her husband, she sees each one as a special gift from God, helping her through her times of distress. Except for the fact that this is a true story, it would have made a fine debut novel. It begins with a successful, middle-aged woman ready to make a life changing decision. After thirty-five years of being married to Bob, Carol was going to ask him for a divorce. Experiencing that most insidious of marital problems, dissatisfaction, she was ready for something better. Bob was blindsided by her move and tried to dissuade her but to no avail. Though they remained friends, helping each other move to their own places, offering each other decorating suggestions, Carol wanted to develop new friendships and relationships. As in any good romance novel there is a handsome online friend who promises to provide some of the adventure that Carol desires. But living in different parts of the country presents a problem, as does his tendency to flirt with abandon, no matter what the setting. The author shares her "newly single" adventures like a long lost cousin at a family reunion. Then, as often happens, life throws her a curve. She recalls the beginnings of her illness in careful detail, allowing the reader to experience the fear and dread that threatened to take over her life. Throughout the life-threatening battle with her disease, Carol remains close to God and whenever her faith waivers, an "angel" is sent to remind her of God's love and provision. As Christians, we sometimes lapse into speaking a language that is strange to those outside the faith. One of the terms we use is: God spoke to me. Whether it is an audible voice or still small voice in your heart, He does make Himself heard. And, in the midst of her crisis, she heard the voice of God, telling her what to do. Of course she still had a choice but she chose to do what He told her. To find out what that was, yes, you'll have to read the book. It is a blessing to have someone like Carol Tuzinski take the time to share her faith, thereby encouraging others to hold fast when storms of life threaten. She is also an accomplished artist continues to enjoy her roles as wife, Mother, friend and an angel in her own right.
