Christmas Story Nov 14, 2009
Charming, well written and touching Christmas story. I would recommend this story to anyone.
A moving Christmas story for all ages! Jan 28, 2009
I ran across The Modern Magi while browsing in our Union County Public Library in Monroe, NC. It's not a long book, but it carries a a really inspirational message. Knowing the old classic from a long time ago, The Gift of the Magi, I thought I had guessed the basic plot. I did guess it somewhat. It caught me completely off guard and brought tears to my eyes. I was hooked and could not put it down and got through it in one long evening. I will not give away the story-line, but I will say Miss Annabelle Perkins will always have a warm place in my heart and this little volume will always be high on my "favorite books" list. I am a Bible Professor and remember well Matthew's story of the magi (wisemen) who came bringing their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the Christ child. Miss Perkins will always be in my mind as the other magi whose gifts, 2000 years later, touched our hearts, made us remember the Bible Christmas story, and inspired us to be better people, and to be willing to bring our gifts, just as she did! I recommend this delightful little book for inspiration all year long, not just at Christmas time. G.
