Reviews - What do customers think about Piano Workbook: A Complete Course in Technique and Performance?
Not as good as the Piano Handbook Sep 27, 2007
I bought this book few weeks ago and was disappointed. I am in my late 40s and started learning piano 3 years ago. I loved Carl Humphries's first book 'The Piano Handbook' and read and played almost every piece in that book. When I saw this new book 'Piano Workbook', I immediately bought it hoping to further develop my knowledge and skills. However, when I quickly went through the new book, I found it is at the same level as the previous Handbook, and the song selections in this new book are neither as good nor as diversified as the first book, and worse, there are many redundancies in these two books. I would not recommend anyone to buy this new book if you already have the 'The Piano Handbook'. It is waste of money. If you don't have one of these books and wish to buy one of them, the first 'The Piano Handbook' is far better than the new one. If you already have the first book, you can better and more systematically develop your techniques and performance with books like Czerny Op299 or Hanon "Virtuoso Pianist in 60 Exercises', which are better and less expensive IMHO.
