Reviews - What do customers think about Tobit (The Anchor Yale Bible Commentaries)?
An outstanding scholarly work Dec 22, 2000
Carey Moore has done the Church and the academy a great service in this new scholarly translation and commentary on the Deuterocanonical book of Tobit.
Moore provides information on possible sources, possible languages of composition, textual discoveries, and usage among Jewish and Christian communities, as well as the excellent translation.
The book is fairly dense, and is written with an academic audience in mind; but is certainly well within the reach of the informed layperson. I used this book during my seminary years to my great profit.
I highly recommend this addition to the "Anchor Bible" series.
