Item description for The Orphans of Mordecai's Castle by Cara Simmons...
Margie overheard Brock's gasp and quickly turned in his direction. "What's wrong?" she asked, as a deep fear gripped her stomach, and then she saw it. By the light of the moon, she could see him holding up a broken piece of rope.. During a storm on the Atlantic, disaster strikes a group of orphan children and they become separated from their beloved leader, Mr. Carver. Desperate and alone, the eleven orphans discover an old, abandoned castle and make it their home. Questions remain at the forefront as they encounter many twists and turns through the story: Did the Haven survive the fire? Will they ever see Mr. Carver again? Follow them through their journey as they discover that God is in control, and learn how to trust Him in everything. However, will they remain faithful as they battle the overwhelming odds that ultimately lead to the biggest surprise of all? Cara Simmons was born in Vermont and raised in a Godly Christian home. As a teenager, she began to spend many hours reading novels, and writing her own thoughts in journals and in story form. It was with her own siblings, neighbor children, and children she babysat that the idea for a forgotten, tropical island formed and became the focal point for many stories. Through the years, she has continued to develop the idea and this book is the outcome of all her years of hard work. She graduated from her family's home school in 1993. Cara currently resides in Connecticut with her husband and children.

Awesome Book! Oct 28, 2008
Hello, my name is Kris and I am fourteen years old. This was a great book and expertly written. It challenged the faith of liitle children and two teenagers who were shipwrecked on a deserted island. (or so they thought!) Through many differet circumstances they found a village who have been desperately searching for the truth and a way to preserve their people and culture that was fast slipping from them. When pirates invade the island and capture them all, they find out it was a very good thing! So Yes, I highly recommend this book! I loved the book, it was awesome!!!
The Orphans of Mordecai's Castle Oct 25, 2008
Upon first glance, people may think this book is targeted particularly to girls, but I have had many boys and grown men come up to me and tell me they really enjoyed my book! I would encourage you all to get a copy and try it for yourself. It is a great read for the family during cold winter months. I am currently working on the second book in the series and challenge you all to take the first step, order the book, and find out for yourself what a group of orphans do to make their way, alone, on a strange island, and how God turns all things out for good! God bless!

This book would appeal to readers of all ages. Mrs. Simmons descriptive language and style of writing is interesting and really pulls the reader into the story. I especially love the wholesome Christian attitude and Bible references entwined in the story. I would highly recommend this book.
