Item description for Travel With John Knox (Travel With) by David Campbell & Campbell David...
Overview "The most excellent man our country has produced" is how John Knox has been described. His clear vision for Scotland's need for reformation in the 16th century and his fiery outspoken criticism of error and corruption many times almost cost him his life. More than once Knox caused royalty to tremble and reduced it to tears, yet his courage, integrity and determination changed the course of Scottish history. As you trace the life and ministry of "the greatest of Scotsmen" you will appreciate the vital legacy that he left to this northern part of the kingdom. Like each of the books in this unique series, Travel with John Knox is both a carefully researched biography and a valuable travel guide. With over 150 colour photographs, drawings and maps, it will guide the traveller to many of the key locations associated with the life and ministry of John Knox. A detailed time line and recommended further reading adds to the value of the book.
Publishers Description This book is a superbly written modern commentary on God's changeless laws in today's changing and godless society. It unpacks the crammed meaning of these terse commands and applies them pointedly to life in a deregulated age.

Book on John Knox - Scottish Reformer / Revivalists Sep 9, 2009
Travel with John Knox - In the Footsteps of Scotland's Great Reformer by Campbell Ian - though i see this site lists this by Campbell David
I have been working my way through the Travel With Series and here is John Knox, the Scottish Reformer, a mighty man of God with some unconventional views in regards to rulers and their authority.
This book is good, though was not as good as the one on C H Spurgeon though they both get the same rating. The timeline as the back is excellent as it gives the overall life of Knox, with dates and places.
The fact that in the 1550s he travelled to Europe (as did 1000s who fled persecution to places of refuge)is incredible, travelling for months on end and that at one stage he was for around 18 months chain to an oar of a French ship as a galley slave. Before that he was a bodyguard to John Wishart who was burnt at the stake!
A good number of maps directing you to locations of churches, houses, monuments etc. The book also cover Knox's time in Frankfurt and Geneva, though no maps on these sections, but lots of good pictures / photos.
The book also touches on those who touched or affected Knox's life, other preachers, reformers and Kings and Queens of Scotland and England.
The book is very good and if you want to go to the places connected with John Knox then this is the book for you. If you only want to be an armchair adventurer (and why not) then you will not be disappointed with this book.
If your interested in revivals and Scotland then the following books has 2 Scottish revivals in around the 1950s Revival Fires and Awakenings, Thirty-Six Visitations of the Holy Spirit - A Call to Holiness, Prayer and Intercession for the Nations
