'Living Without Marbles' is the story of one woman's fight against mental illness and the feelings she experienced when she found out her estranged mother, who also suffered from mental illness had died from an overdose. 'Living Without Marbles' combines a very personal tale but also includes an A-Z of mental health, a smattering of humour, and loads of stuff that will make you stop and think! Despite its subject matter this a positive book, an inspirational book and a unique book. Writing 'Living Without Marbles' helped Clare to get her life back on track and proves that you can live with mental illness - not die from it, as Clare's mother did.About the Author
Clare Hill's first experiences of mental illness were as a child growing up with a mother who had mental health problems. Clare's mother left her when she was young, leaving her to be bought up by her father and grandparents. At the age of 24 Claire, too, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and suffered with crippling anxiety and agoraphobia. She couldn't stop thinking about her mother and how we they were going through the same thing. As a result he decided to look for her. Eventually her half-brother contacted her and Clare found out that her mother had died from an overdose. Clare's grief inspired her to write this book about her mother and her own mental health struggles. Clare found that writing everything down on paper really helped and thinks that it helped her get her life back on track. Clare has managed to come to terms with her bipolar disorder and now has two serious boyfriends (who know about each other and don't mind!) each suiting different aspects of her personality.
