This book is PHENOMENAL! Feb 27, 2007
I stumbled upon Bruce Main and Urban Promise after watching the 20/20 special on the kids of Camden. Bruce Main's latest book is nothing short of phenomenal. The book is an inspiration, written with such faith, hope and love that you cannot help but cry as you read through it. This man is an inspiration and his writing confirms that. From the illustrations he uses to make his points (Mother Teresa on faith and feelings) to his humbling confessions of doubt, Bruce Main brillantly crafts the best book I've read in a very long time. Kudos to him and all his efforts with Urban Promise. God bless him for sharing his vision with the world and for enlightening us all to the plight of the kids in Camden who now see hope through his eyes.
An inspirational piece readers of modern spiritual literature will find thoughtful. Feb 6, 2007
In today's busy modern world even the most spiritual person is usually too busy to acknowledge signs of God's presence in daily life. Jesus, in contrast, led a full life that was never too busy to observe such - and this is the point and teaching of Spotting the Sacred: Noticing god in the Most Unlikely Places. Case histories and stories accompany discussions of how to slow down and perceive evidences of God in the everyday - even in the slum or in an act of compassion. From experiencing and giving gratitude to the acts of children, SPOTTING THE SACRED blends scriptural references to everyday life experiences in an inspirational piece readers of modern spiritual literature will find thoughtful.

Life Challenging Jan 27, 2007
I read this book in January 2007...I know it will be in my top 10 for 2007...no question about it. Bruce Main is a superb story teller who has the uncanny gift of combining stories of a servant's life (his) with faith truths that ONLY one who has lived them is able to share.
The following quote really captures the essential essence of this book for me:
"Sure, Jesus used words to teach His disciples about loving God and loving their neighbor. But consistently we see Him making a point of finding ordinary people who put His teachiongs into practice, then using those people to illustrate His truths. Jesus knew the difference between words and the implementation of words." p. 199.
This book will not only challenge your beliefs, it will challenge your way of living.
Thank You Bruce.

Absolutely fantastic! A very different presepective. To know that God is constantly at work is one thing in concept, but to realise and have a feel of the presence of God in every day ordinaries is another. He wants to come thru powerfully if you allow him to use you for his purpose. Thanks for writing a greate book KCR
Well done Bruce!! Dec 15, 2006
Bruce does a wonderful job with this book! You won't want to put it down!
There's proof that miracles do happen and God is definitely working among us. We just have to slow down and start noticing how God is working.
I've learned how to "Spot the Sacred".............
