Item description for Save Sam (Fulmar 7 - 10 years) by A. Brown, Alistair Brown & Brown Alistair...
Overview Rescuing Sam, an abandoned puppy, gave Helen hope she might at last have a dog of her own. But Sam is put in kennels, and Helen discovers he'll die in a week unless she can buy him back. With no money, saving Sam is impossible. Yet Helen knows he's meant to live. The days tick away, and Helen feels desperate. Then a wild storm brings a tree crashing to the ground, and Helen faces an even greater tragedy than the death of a puppy. Meeting serious problems with only faith and prayer becomes very real for Helen.

Author's comment Feb 14, 2010
I'm Alistair Brown and wrote Save Sam. Evaluate my comments knowing that!
The book was written in the 1990s when I often told stories to my 4 children. I began a story to one of my girls involving a dog we called Sam. The dog was abandoned and likely to be put to death. I don't remember finishing the story that night, but later started writing it as a book. I let my daughters see each chapter as it emerged, and as Sam's future looked darker and darker the pressure began! One drew a poster which said "Sam must not die (or else!)". Another dragged my out of bed one morning, tellling me I had to write the next chapter because she wanted to know what happened.
I won't give the story away, but I believe anyone from about 8 to 14 would enjoy it. On the UK this site web site there's a customer review: http://www.this site.co.uk/Save-Sam-Fulmar-10-years/dp/185792021X/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266176340&sr=1-4 That young person certainly loved it.
A couple of years later I wrote another book with the same characters called The Runaway, and this site sells that tooRunaway, The (Freestyle).
