Item description for Sterling's Slip by Brink Hudlee...
This is the story of Stuart Sterling who grows up in a small Missouri River community characterized by Scottish high moral standards and clan customs. After moving his family to St. Louis, he starts a climb to first financial success and then political achievement, culminating in the Republican nomination for President when he receives the support of the beautiful Texas Governor Rose O'Daniel. On his way up the business ladder, he "slips" unethical practices into his company's activities. Further "slips" in politics help him position himself to win the national election. Feelings of guilt drive Stuart to an alarming course of action two days before the election. The nation and most of the world are dumbfounded by his attempt at redemption. Sterling's Slip is the first of the Sterling Saga trilogy.

Exciting but thoughtful Nov 29, 2007
This book has something for readers seeking several different interests: adventure, political intrigue, romance, psychological challenges and historical perceptions. I liked the author's use of language and his getting inside the mind of the major characters.
