More About Brian Meeks
Brian Meeks was born in Canada in 1953, but his family returned to Jamaica in 1956. A political activist in the 1970s, he was involved in post-independence arts and youth work. Kamau Brathwaite referred to him as one of the new generation of "brigadista" Jamaican poets, wielding an "unwhitened" language, Meek's poems were published in Savacou and anthologized in Voiceprint (1989). He currently lives in Canada.
