Item description for Never Surrender: A Soldier's Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom by William G. Boykin & Lynn Vincent...
Overview Chronicles the career of Jerry Boykin in the Special Operations unit Delta Force, where he balanced his military duty with his faith in God.
Publishers Description In 1978, Jerry Boykin joined what would become the world's premier Special Operations unit, Delta Force. The only promise: "A medal and a body bag." What followed was a .50 caliber round in the chest and a life spent with America's elite forces bringing down warlords and war criminals, despots, and dictators. In Colombia, his task force hunted the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar. In Panama, he helped capture the brutal dictator Manuel Noriega, liberating a nation. From Vietnam to Iran to Mogadishu, Lt. General Jerry Boykin's life reads like an action-adventure novel. Boykin's powerful story will keep you riveted as he reveals how his military duty worked in tandem with his faith to bring him through the bloody storms of foreign battle-and through the political firestorm that ambushed him in his own country.
From Publishers Weekly Lieutenant General Boykin's illustrious military career takes center stage in this personal account of religious faith in the proverbial foxhole. He was thrust into several harrowing encounters, such as the events portrayed in the film Black Hawk Down, the Iranian hostage crisis and the current war on terror. Boykin delivers frontline perspectives on the military missions in which he engaged, and the accounts are charged with excitement. Some may find his writing a bit polarizing; he is not subtle regarding his dislike for Democratic political figures like Jimmy Carter and John Kerry. Others will be inspired by how he faced death on a number of occasions and held tightly to his faith as a buoy through tumultuous and dark times. Toward the end of his career, Boykin began giving public talks, inspiring people to faith in God and to the ideals of the United States. While Boykin is to be commended for his patriotism, bravery and conviction, the book never successfully explains how his military career coexisted with some of the more pacifist tenets of Christianity. Reviews - What do customers think about Never Surrender (Not Available-Out Of Print)?
Never Surrender Apr 17, 2010
Not one given to reading military or political books, I have truly enjoyed reading this book! General Boykin tells of international affairs in a language that is understandable for nearly every reader. There were times I laughed out loud and other times I cried. Truly, the measure of a man is not when he is down - but how he gets back up and keeps going!
The best so far Apr 6, 2010
I just finished reading "Never Surrender" and thought it was awesome. Answered some lingering questions regarding the botched rescue in Tehran and Somalia. Well worth the price to see this warrior bare his soul regarding his faith in our Savior.
Never Surrender Great BOOK Mar 19, 2010
General Boykin is a war hero but more importantly he is a man of integrity, faith and a role model for any type of leader.

Met the General at Iron Sharpens Iron in Hartford CT. What a humble man of G-d. For a killer, he is very humble. His story is exciting and awe inspiring. He has been there and done it, beleave that. I recommend this book very much. TY for your service, I will never forget.
BETTER THEN ANY ACTION MOVIE !!! Mar 6, 2010
As an author, as an avid reader, and as a U.S. Marine, I have to say this is absolutely one of the best books I have EVER read. With ease of style, and exciting momentum, Boykin's highly descriptive writing makes you forget you are reading a book. You feel instead, like you are watching an action movie - perhaps the best action movie you have ever seen.
I had no idea, before I began reading, that this book covered covert special ops procedures in such detail. I was very pleasantly surprised. I have recommended this book to everyone from my mother, to the Marines I serve with, to my pastor, and even officials I know in D.C. ALL have thanked me.
It is as much about the REAL WORLD of Special Ops, as it is about courage and heroism, as it is about personal faith and being your own man. Outstanding book.
