Item description for The Art of Manfishing (Christian heritage imprint) by Thomas Boston, Boston Thomas & J. I. Packer...

Thomas Boston was a "Scotish Puritan" ("Puritan" was not used in Scotland as a label in the way it was in England). He had a sensitive spirit but also a first class mind. A man with a retentive memory but also a way with words, he always thought best with a pen in his hands, writing out ideas and arguments as they came to him. This is a classic explanation of the Puritan approach to evangelism that is also an encouragement for anyone explaining the gospel to someone else.

More About Thomas Boston, Boston Thomas & J. I. Packer

Register your artisan biography and upload your photo! Thomas Boston held a pastorate with a very small Congregation in Simprin, Scotland until 1707. He was an extremely popular preacher, though self-effacing - considering that he had but "small talents." He was reluctant to publish his works, although he wrote out completely all of his sermons before they were preached. Many, however, came to be published after his death at the age of 57.

Thomas Boston was born in 1676 and died in 1732.

Reviews - What do customers think about The Art of Manfishing (Christian heritage imprint)?

Still A Helpful Book But...  Feb 22, 2006
from the inside front cover,

"This edition of The Art of Manfishing appears in a completely different form... there has been considerable editing..."

inlcuding their removal of a portion that they did not agree with.

I wish I would have known. Now to find a "real" copy...
A truly wonderful book.  Apr 28, 2004
Never intending it to be published, The Art of Man Fishing, Boston's meditations on what it means to be a preacher/evangelist was incredibly edifying. His humble dependence on the Holy Spirit and commitment to following the example of Christ in the ministry of preaching should be read by ALL ministers of the Word. It was rather short and I finished it in a day. This truly wonderful book is spiritually saturated, Christ-centered, and God glorifying. A must read!
