Reviews - What do customers think about Evangelism By Fire?
evangelism by fire Jul 25, 2008
This book is not for the unsaved, nor is it a book for seekers or lukewarmers. Bonnke does not write it to convert the lost ( he may well have written many books like that). It is written for the BELIEVER who is either sitting on the fence or has just been pushed off by the hand of the holy spirit, and now wonders what on earth is going on and WHY ME? Bonnke says those who say this generation is the post Christian age and the church is either dead or dying have to witness the phenomenal power of the Holy Spirit in Africa. The pictures alone are incredible, backing up Joel 2:28,29 when the Lord said " I will pour out MY SPIRIT on all flesh, I will pour out MY SPIRIT in those days ( meaning just before the great and awesome day of the LORD vs. 31). It is a manual for evangelizing the lost. Bonnke's theme throughout is: What are you waiting for? This present generation is the last generation to spread the gospel to this present generation. If you need inspiration this might just do it for you I know it did it for me.

Bonnke's passion for souls leaps off its pages Feb 2, 2007
I first saw this book at my Pastor's home and borrowed it. I've never seen the urgency of saving souls expressed so passionately by someone who's actually lived that urge for years. It was an exciting read, parts of it were unbelievably igniting and I promptly signed up for CFAN newsletters at Bonnke's website. God bless Reinhard, he definitely is God's messenger to taking the Good News to Africa.
I've fellowshipped in most denominations, from the dead-and-still traditionals to the hot-air-but-no-fruits Pentecostals. Although Bonnke's style is explicitly Pentecostal, he sure knows his theology and cant be lumped with the likes of Hagin, Hinn. His passion and the witness of his ministry shows this is no emotional fluff.
"The temperature of this book runs hot - very hot. Its flames will scorch. Some who read these pages would do well to take out fire insurance, for I gurantee many old concepts will be set to the torch", goes the Introduction. And indeed they will be. Five stars.
A Way With Words and Actions. Jun 2, 2006
This paperback I found in the library is written and produced by a German Evangelist who preaches Christianity all over the world. This one is Edition 8, Printing 3. Originally 50,000 copies were printed but there are now over two million copies in 47 languages. He proclaims that the church is a lifeboat, not a pleasure boat (like those to get from the islands in Hawaii). Entertainers are not needed or wanted, but at First Baptist Concord, that is their major money making project.
His primary proclamation is that "the church which does not seek the lost is 'lost' itself." But that is not the premise of the sermons of Doug Sager who slanders other denominations and still reeks of the old-timey evangelism of the early circuit riders.
Failure is not the rule. This is a good book to read before you go to see 'The Da Vinci Code' movie. The Christian cross is not on fire in Germany as it was in America during the reconstruction period when the Klan was fighting the carpetbaggers from up North who came South to take over. We were promised that a flood would not destroy the world ever again, which makes one wonder with the varied weather patterns across the globe at present. No, it will be the fire, a fire of destruction by global use of bombs and terrorists intent on taking as many lives as possible. It doesn't matter if it is Bagdad or New York City. He warns that the end of life as we know it is preeminent.
Bonnke is a man with a driving urgency, not a man of two minds or even a dual personality. We know that Jesus died on the cross, but not one of fire. Faith is not just for the possible; that is not faith at all. This is a man of words. "Your way with words is powerful, so don't gild the lily. If you lay on the charm too thick, you'll come across as insincere when that's far from the truth. Instead, let your actions and your speech do the necessary work. "

This book does not give any biblical substance on what the gospel message itself is. It mostly talks about how fervency and enthusiasm for the spectacular will somehow by osmosis get people to be "saved". I don't approve of this book because there is no mention of God's law, God's wrath, nor God's Sovereignty in salvation. How can people ever be in need of a real Savior if they don't even hear about how their really lost? And how can people ever need to be "saved", if they don't even know from what?
