Item description for A Tear In the Hull by Bob Villareal...
Overview Just as the institution of marriage has always been mysterious, divorce in America leaves us with many questions begging for answers. Why is the divorce rate so high? What causes divorce, and what is the fallout? Why aren.t government officials and clerical people trying to do something about it? The author answers these questions and many more in a straightforward, passionate style that can tug at your heart. The author says that it is too late for superficial changes. Ideas have consequences, and we must come to our senses and recognize that the direction our culture is taking us is more than destructive.it is suicidal. To get to the heart of the matter, the book has to explore even deeper. Why did God create us the way He did and for what purpose? If marriage was so important, why did Moses allow divorce? Is there such a thing as a "good divorce"? What does God think about divorce? Are there scriptural grounds for divorce? As you can see, this book is about people-male and female, young and old. It.s about why we do the things that we do and how we got off track. You will probably never look at divorce or marriage in the same way after reading this thought-provoking challenge.

Reviews - What do customers think about A Tear In the Hull?
discussing a tear in the hull May 16, 2004
Perhaps I may seem somewhat biased in my review but, like the author, I too believe that the only solutions to correcting the nightmarish problems of society rest in Christian remedies. Specifically, the roles of husbands and wives and why the deviation from God inspired rules and regulations regarding these roles have created the terrible position we are presently in as a culture and a society. One has only to look at the facts and stats regarding marriage and divorce today to realize Mr. Villareal has gotten it right, ( whether we agree with him or not idealogically ), he is simply reminding us of God inspired rules governing the roles of husbands and wives as well as men and women in general. These stats and facts available today dealing with divorce are prima facia evidence that we have been wrong and wrong for a long time. "A Tear in the Hull" is perhaps the only modern treatise dealing with these problems and explains rationally why they have occurred in the first place. It is excellent for anyone to read. Even a non-Christian cannot honestly argue with the results Mr. Villareal illustrates so clearly when a culture or society ingnores its own evidence and continues to follow a disastrous course. This is an important book.

bob villareal's writing is so matter of fact, if an unbeliever was to read this book he/she could only conclude there is indeed a God.
