This is an excellent reference for Bible scholars. The reader does not have to be a seminary graduate to gain insights. One must be prepared to skip sentences, words, or paragraphs quoted in Hebrew, Danish, French, and German. Fortunately, you can still gain valuable information without being able to read those languages. Of course, it would be most meaningful to someone who could read the languages. I am so inspired by the book that I believe I will write an essay on the topic to use for my Bible students. The book could garner 5 stars if the foreign language passages had English interpretations below. The author goes into great detail making his case for his interpretation based on English and Hebrew grammar/usage analysis. One chapter I skipped because it was almost totally on that topic addressing the phrases of 1 Peter 3:20. The first half of the book is enough for me to say it was money well spent. I can truly say that my insights into this scripture passage have been enlightened and my confusion about the passage has cleared. If you tend to read Bible commentaries frequently, you will enjoy this book.
