Publishers Description Every believer is called by God, and His call is life-transforming. When this truth grips a person's heart, he or she is never the same again. Immediately there comes into that life a deep sense of meaning and purpose and a devoted sense of accountability to God. Authors Henry Blackaby and Norman Blackaby lead men and women to explore the life-transforming, world-changing call that God gives every follower of Christ. Just as He did throughout the Bible, God is still calling His people, at this very hour, to accomplish His eternal purposes in redeeming the lost. God has a unique plan for each of His followers to be a part of His mission. Called and Accountable thoughtfully explores these questions: Why does God call us? What is a call? Who are the called? How am I called? When am I called? How do I live out the call?

Reviews - What do customers think about Called And Accountable?
Called and Accountable Nov 18, 2009
Henry Blackaby is the noted author of Experiencing God. That book has been used by numerous churches and individuals to join God on mission.
In Called and Accountable: Discovering Your Place in God's Eternal Purpose, Blackaby is joined by his son, Norman in writing what could be called the prequel to Experiencing God.
The major thrust of the book is that each and every Christian is called by God to be on mission with God. Pastors are not the only ones who are called and accountable.
Throughout the book, the authors rely on large portions of scriptural references to make their case. This is extremely helpful. The only problem is that at times they use passages that are probably not normative for today's Christians. Instead they probably were specific for the particular prophet or individual in the text.
The authors also provide examples from modern men and women of the principles being fleshed out. For a target audience of Joe Christian, this enables the reader to relate to people like them.
Some may be left uneasy with the authors' definition and use of "developing our spiritual senses." Surely we should all have our minds saturated with the scriptures and our hearts filled with the spirit. However, daily decisions or lifetime decisions may not be as mystically discerned as this book suggests.
For those who have read Experiencing God, this book will help lay the foundation for what you have previously read. All readers will be challenged to look for opportunities to be on mission with God. This makes the book worthwhile for your reading.
A Book About Call Sep 9, 2009
Called and Accountable: Discovering Your Place in God's Eternal Purpose - Henry and Norman Blackaby
Henry Blackaby has been a favorite of mine since I studied Experiencing God the first time some 20 years ago. Now he has teamed up with his son Norman to compile and expand the material in his study Called and Accountable: Discovering Your Place in God's Eternal Purpose. In six short chapters, the Blackabies wrestle with the major questions of a Christ-follower's calling:
1. Why does God call us? 2. What is a call? 3. Who are the called? 4. How am I called? 5. When am I called? 6. How do I live out the call?
Most believers struggle with just these questions, and we are all at some point on the spectrum in dealing with them.
One drawback to the book comes in most of the elder Blackaby's writings--namely, that parts of the text draw heavily on the principles introduced in Experiencing God, and thus from time to time the reader feels he is simply reading an advertisement for or testimonial to Experiencing God. Otherwise this is an excellent primer on finding and living out one's call to God's kingdom purpose.
