Item description for Just as I Am: The Autobiography of Billy Graham by Billy Graham...
Hailed as "the world's preacher," Billy Graham has enjoyed a career that has spanned more than six decades and his ministry of faith has touched the hearts and souls of millions. In Just As I Am Graham reveals his life story in what the Chicago Tribune calls "a disarmingly honest autobiography." Now, in this revised and updated edition we hear from this "lion in winter" (Time) on his role over the past ten years as America's pastor during our national crisis of the Oklahoma bombing and 9/11; his knighthood; his passing of the torch to his son, Franklin, to head the organization that bears his name; and his commitment to do the Lord's work in the years of his and his wife Ruth's physical decline.

The book was in pristine condition when I received it. I received the book in a very reasonable time after I ordered it.
The Life Story of the 20th Century's Greatest Evangelist Nov 26, 2009
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I always have respected Billy Graham and admired his work, but now I have been provided insight into his heart and soul. Beginning with his childhood, Graham describes how God worked in his life to take him to international prominence as an evangelist. He is undoubtedly the greatest evangelist of the 20th century, and the events described in this book are nothing short of miraculous. Many of us grew up with Billy Graham, and may have simply taken his ministry for granted. Here in this volume however, we see how God was moving powerfully through a humble, single-minded Baptist preacher to shake the world for Christ. If you have a heart for evangelism, you won't want to miss this book. If you don't have a heart for evangelism, then reading this book may very well change your priorities. This title already is quickly becoming a classic.
A Life of Helping Lead Souls to Him Nov 23, 2009
"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise." -- Proverbs 11:30
My pastor recently suggested I read biographies and autobiographies of well-known evangelists to learn more about how each was helped to gain Salvation. Naturally, the autobiography of Billy Graham made that list. His high-profile crusades were a worldwide staple for many years. Somehow I was not surprised to read that Dr. Graham was born again while attending crusade-like campaign meetings conducted by Dr. Mordecai Fowler Ham when Dr. Graham was 16.
Reading the humble words about Dr. Graham's beginnings in life and in his faith, I was drawn powerfully into the autobiography and wanted to read more. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this book is more than an autobiography, it's also a humble history of someone who represented Jesus to the un-Godly around the world, influenced many world leaders, and who founded a major organization to help save sinners. The more I read, the more I wanted to read.
I was particularly impressed by Dr. Graham's desire to avoid even the appearance of wrong-doing, from quite a young age. It was as though he knew from the beginning that he had to follow God's Word closely if he was to be of the most service to Him.
The book is also fascinating for seeing how service to the Lord drew people to Dr. Graham. Those who want to be more popular can learn an important lesson here: Let Jesus introduce you to the people He wants you to know.
Today, there is much interest in ecumenical activities. Unfortunately, many of those activities don't have much, if anything, to do with evangelism. That's a shame. I hope people who are interested in evangelism will read this book and draw from its many lessons for how to be of service in witnessing for the Lord.
May God bless you, your family, and all you do in the name of Jesus!
An inspiring and amazing journey Jun 14, 2009
This amazing autobiography takes the reader from childhood to nearly 80 years old. Showed me exactly what this man is made of, being perhaps one of the most recognizable figures of the twentieth century, and how incredibly humble he was, truly giving all glory to God. He gave personal insight into so many candid relationships he had with US presidents, royalty, entertainers, and others in the spotlight. He went into amazing details of his crusades all over the world, obstacles faced in many countries closed off to Christianity, and magnificent victories for the Gospel. It is so incredible how many lives have been touched by this man and the BGEA. He suffered many bouts of serious illness, caused often by working too hard and too long. He went into extreme hardships he faced, and awe inspiring miracles that made things happen. He lived a life that was so alive and adventurous, exciting and difficult, but so rewarding. This man without a doubt has changed the course of history and left an indelible mark upon the world. He is a man to learn from, and this book helps do just that. Soli Deo Gloria
The Teflon Preacher and Compromiser May 15, 2009
In this attractive book, Billy Graham, who never met or admired a charlatan he didn't like or defend, shows his true colours. Is he evil or just swal- lowed up in the sea (cesspool?) of compromise that's engulfed him all these years. Naybody who can't see how lost this kook is after reading this 'confessional', I've got a 'Great Bridge' here in Chesapeake, Virginia I'll sell you real quick!
The Good... Billy, most properly praises the following folkes, which I have no problem with: Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr., William Jennings Bryan, Gen. Doug MacArthur, Mordecai Ham, the fire-and-brim- stone preacher who got him saved in 1934 in N.C.
Then it gets weird! The Bad and the Ugly: He spends most of the rest of this braggard book talking about all the charlatans he's cavorted areound the world (and White House) with: Dwight Eisenhower, Drew Pearson, Ira Eshelman, Bernard Baruch, Gangster Mickey Cohen, "Dr's" Norman (Karma) Vincent Peale, Martin Lucifer King, Jr., Al Metzker, Henry Kissinger, Bill Clinton, The Masonic Lodge, The United Nations, Golda Mier (she wasn't even Prime Min- ister yet - "Thanks to the 'jews' [his word] for POSELYTIZING ME!", he even has this to say about Adolf Hitler: " I was particularly fascinated by the oratorial style of speeches shouted in an al- most hypnotic voice by a man in Germany named A. Hitler." Huh? Is that why you do it, Billy?
For further reading / viewing on this truely warped individual see: Is Billy Graham A Mason (yes, in answer, he is!), by Ephesians 5:11 website and the book by Cathy Burns called: 'Billy Graham and his Friends'. Graham has said all sorts of loopy things over the years but his huckstering of the 'holahoax' is as bad as any Establishmentarian I've ever heard.
He's brainwashed about the six million-gas cham- ber fraud but he likes Hitler's oratory skills which alledgedly lead to the 'Holamyth'. Can you say double-minded?!
