Item description for Whole Community Catechesis in Plain English by Bill Huebsch...
Overview Catechetical leaders across the country are calling for a new framework, a new model for catechesis that involves the whole community: the family, the catechumenate, the parish, Catholic schools, groups of the faithful, and basic ecclesial communities. The idea for whole community catechesis is drawn from the consideration of the way Jesus taught, the teachings of Vatican II, the General Directory for Catechesis, as well as the growing consensus in the catechetical community that the "school-house" framework lacks elements essential to catechesis. The Whole Community Catechesis In Plain English, Bill Huebsch offers concrete suggestions for a step-by-steep process (the nuts-and-bolts) for implementing this catechetical model: linking liturgy and catechesis, making Christ the center of catechesis, focusing on the household, organizing assemblies, and more. The appendices provide sample handouts, outlines for prayer and meetings, and organizational tools.

Reviews - What do customers think about Whole Community Catechesis in Plain English?
Outstanding Model for Formation! Mar 10, 2004
Wow! What an incredible book! The idea that classroom based, academically designed catechesis is the only way to provide formation is put to the test in this easy to read and moreso, easy to implement guide to Total Community Catechesis.
Innovative approaches such a "Question of the Week" and the "50-50 Plan" both give coordinators of Catholic Parish-based formation a platform from which to launch new and exciting catechesis in their parishes!
Many fine examples, anecdotes and step by step instructions help readers to actually visualize how a program such as this can work in their parishes. Hats off to Mr. Huebesch for opening the eyes of this reader to the wonders of Whole Community Catechesis!!
