Item description for Dreams and Visions: Pastoral Planning for Lifelong Faith Formation by Bill Huebsch...
Overview It's time to move from the theory about Lifelong Faith Formation to the actual plans for implementation. In this fine new work, Bill Huebsch does just that. Calling on his work with dozens of dioceses and thousands of parishes over the past years, the author is able to lay out in plain English a step-by-step method for doing the pastoral planning in each parish needed to start and sustain lifelong formation! No two parishes are alike. Lifelong faith formation is not a program you can adopt as a parish. But there is a process into which you can enter and out of which comes your own unique, particular plan. Whether you're a large suburban parish with more staff than the diocesan center, or a small rural parish sharing one pastor in a cluster of three with no paid staff, and whether your a multi-cultural parish balancing languages and cultural differences or an inner city parish serving the poor and homeless, Dreams and Visions will open for you a new horizon and give you new hope.

Reviews - What do customers think about Dreams and Visions: Pastoral Planning for Lifelong Faith Formation?
"Let's get busy and become great!" Aug 24, 2007
We all have dreams and visions for our parish community. Now we have a blueprint for making thoses dreams and visions a reality. Mr. Huebsch encourages us to get busy taking our church community from good to GREAT. He begins by giving us the "essential background" necessary to understand where we are today: on the verge of becoming a church of lifelong learners journeying together in Christ. We get an historical overview of the developments that began before Vatican II and led to our U.S. Bishops' document "Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us" which places adult faith formation at the heart of catechesis.
Each step along the way Mr. Huebsch provides questions to help the reader reflect on their own and with others upon the basic principles of lifelong faith formation and how they impact pastoral planning. However, this is not just another book of theories. It is a practical resource that provides step by step methods and processes for pastoral planning. It challenges us to add 2 new dimensions to our planning: retreats and encounters that draw us closer to God, and adult gatherings that help our faith to grow. Included are detailed plans for implementing these new dimensions.
Everyone involved in parish leadership needs to read this book and get busy becoming GREAT!
