The Complete Bill Horan Sep 24, 2007
I received this book as a present and might not have originally bought it but after reading and looking at it, I can say it is worth the money. Two excellent tutorials on how one of todays master figure sculptor/painters does it is good enough but there are hundreds of superb photos of Mr. Horans works showing figures ranging from baseall players (whcih there are quite a few of) to knights, etc. Each photgraph is good to great and shows what people can strive for in painting and modeling a 54mm figure. There is alsoa nice intor by Shep Paine and a bigraphy of Mr. Horan. If you paint of collect miniatures, this is worht the cost.
This book does not do justice to Bill's excellent talents Sep 14, 2006
I received this book after a period of 6 months waiting and I had been eagerly awaiting it since I am a dedicated fan of Bill's work. He is one of the best figure modelers and painters around and I was looking forward to a book celebrating his talents. However the quality of the book is a disgrace. The pictures are very dark and muddy and the editorial team even missed a low resolution picture in the back of the book. This is the first time that I send back a book to this site and people looking for a good book on Bill are much better off enjoying the "Military Modelling Masterclas by Bill" The images in there, though not all all much much better than the ones in this book which should have been a tribute and celebration to Bill's span of work over the past decades. I am disappointed by Andrea Press because they usually bring out much better standards of books on the topic of figure painting and modelling. A real shame...
