More About Bill & Gloria Gaither and Their Homecomi
Gaither Homecoming Friends is the name applied to a series of videos, music recordings and concerts, which are organized, promoted and usually presented by Christian music songwriter and impresario Bill Gaither. To date, the Gaither Homecoming title is applied to more than 60 videos, dozens of music recordings, and an annual concert tour that drew more than half a million fans in 2004 (the most recent year for which statistics are available).
On February 19, 1991, the Gaither Vocal Band had just wrapped up a recording session in a Nashville, Tennessee, working on an album called Homecoming, which featured many of the great voices of southern gospel music: The Speers, the Gatlins, Jake Hess, The Cathedrals, Howard & Vestal Goodman, Buck Rambo, Eva Mae Lefevre, James Blackwood, Hovie Lister, Jim Hill, and J.D. Sumner & The Stamps. After the session, the artists stayed around to chat, swap stories and sing old standards around the piano. The impromptu session was recorded on video and later published. The recording was so well received that Gaither began a series of professionally-produced videos with larger gatherings of gospel musicians.
Today Bill & Gloria Gaither and their Homecoming Friends is a favorite staple of Gospel Music audiences around the world.

What a Blessing! Feb 16, 2007
I originally bought this to get the Crabb Family's "Through the Fire" which I saw on YouTube. It is fantastic (talk about anointing!), and it alone is well worth the price of the DVD; however, there are a lot of other songs on here that are such blessings. I had never heard the Hoppers before. Their song "Yes, I Am" is wonderful and blesses me each time I hear it. It's one of the ones I listen to three or four times in a row. I got this DVD three days ago and it has been in my DVD player ever since I got it. I have watched it from start to finish twice already and watch my favorites over and over. The Gaither Vocal Band's song "On the Authority" makes me want to shout every time I hear it. The recitation of James Weldon Johnson's "Go Down Death" is moving and leaves many in tears. "Upon This Rock" and "Go Rest High on the Mountain" are both powerful performances as well. This was my first time to buy one of the Gaither DVD's, but this one has already proven to be such a blessing that I am sure I will buy many more. this site doesn't list the tracks. So here they are:
1. When The Saints Go Marching In 2. On The Authority 3. Comedy/Bill Gaither, Mark Lowry 4. Miracles Will Happen On That Day 5. Comedy/Bill Gaither, Roy Lewis 6. Yes, I Am 7. He'll Deliver Me 8. Teach Me, Lord, To Wait - trax available 9. The Windows Of Heaven Are Open - trax available 10. Praise The Lord 11. I Thank You, Lord - trax available 12. His Amazing Grace 13. Honey In The Rock 14. Twenty-Fours Hours A Day 15. Comedy/Carl Hurley 16. Goodbye Blue 17. Goin' Away Party 18. He Understands My Tears 19. I Love You, Lord 20. Precious Lord, Take My Hand 21. Jesus Loves Me 22. Upon This Rock 23. Through The Fire 24. There Is A Fountain - trax available 25. Go Down, Death 26. Go Rest High On That Mountain
Great diverse music Jul 14, 2002
I have seen several of the Gaither videos, and of course many of the TV show/infomercials. This is the best one, in my opinion, and a good mix of the old and the new. The Crabbe Family's "Through the Fire" was exceptional, and Charlotte Ritchie's version of "Go Rest High on the Mountain" was excellent. Both drew well-deserved standing ovations and encores. I am not sure why Ritchie does not come out from the shadows of the Easters. I am not a huge fan of the overly-twangy Easters, but "Goin' Away Party" was very good. Allison Duncan Spears also had a great song, and another standing ovation. Traditional gospel (with banjo and fiddle) was covered by the Lewis Family, and Russ Taff was great on "Praise God." There was a tolerable dose of Mark Lowry's schtick, and some other good comedy. Excellent DVD if you like this genre.
