Overview A personal portrait of Jesus the Messiah considers His life and ministry, and encourages readers to pursue a loving relationship with Christ while covering such events as His miracles and His confrontation of corrupt religious leaders.
Publishers Description In her previous books, Beth Moore has introduced her readers to David and Paul. In "Jesus, the One and Only," Beth introduces them to an intimate Savior as they get a close-up and personal portrait of the life of Jesus the Messiah. But this is far more than just a work on the life of Christ. More About beth moore
Beth Moore was born on an Army base in Green Bay, Wisconsin, during what her father describes as the worst thunderstorm the city had seen in five years. He affectionately says the Lord brought her into the world with a drum roll. The fourth child of a retired Army major and a homemaker, Beth was raised in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Her father managed the local cinema where each of her four siblings had a role to play. Beth’s job was to hand out samples of popcorn and soda. Growing up in the theater had its perks. Sometimes Beth would be allowed to slip into a movie and take with her a pickle bag full of popcorn and a Dixie cup of Coke.
There in a theater chair, wide-eyed and full of Coke, Beth began a lifelong love for stories. She loved to tell them, write them, and hear them. But the story that captured her heart and consumed her life was not told in a movie theater. It was told in Sunday School-the story of Jesus-a Savior who loved children thought she was special. A seed was planted in her young heart that would grow to mark her life with a passionate love for Christ.
At 18 Beth sensed God’s call to work for Him. Although she couldn’t imagine what that would mean, she made it her goal to say yes to whatever He asked. Beth graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in political science. She later received an honorary in humanities from Howard Payne University. She married Keith in 1978, and now daughters Amanda and Melissa have joined the family. As a young wife and mother, Beth began speaking at luncheons and retreats, Mother’s Day Out, and teaching Christian aerobics.
Beth took a Bible doctrine class at her church taught by Buddy Walters, a former college football player who taught the Scriptures with tears streaming down his cheeks. She fervently prayed for such a passion for God’s Word. It was Buddy who first taught Beth, along with Keith, how to study the Bible.
Beth founded Living Proof Ministries in 1994 to teach women how to love and live on God’s Word. She has written numerous books and Bible studies, including Breaking Free, Believing God-Hardcover, and The Patriarchs: Encountering the God of Abraham, Issac & Jacob, Leader's Kit, read by women of all ages, races, and denominations. American missionaries and expatriates have taken Beth’s Bible study groups up all over the world. Living Proof Live conferences are in all 50 states; attended by more than 658,000 women. Ever the storyteller, Beth is known to pepper her teaching with stories and poems written from the perspective of pertinent characters. She communicates with great energy, passion, humor, warmth, and grace. Beth attends Houston’s First Baptist Church, where she hosts an interdenominational Tuesday-night Bible study for women in her city.

Beth Moore loves Jesus like we all should Mar 23, 2005
For anyone who is serious about becoming a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, this heart felt study of the gospel of Luke is an excellent place to start. A fulcrum for any personal Christian library, this easy to follow format provides a reusable outline for study of the other three gospels. The one thing that sets this book apart, I believe, is the wonderful insight into the reality of Jesus' day to day life, offered my Ms. Moore. It is as if she is really there, walking with the Master. Her radiant love for our Lord is overwhelmingly evident in her words. May we all learn to love Jesus in such a way and know Him as personaly as this author obviously does.
What a wonderful gift! Mar 3, 2005
I don't normally share my opinions with the general public, but this book has moved me to do so.
I was raised under the rather misguided impression that Jesus was a very solemn and quiet person. One who at times, tended to do quite a bit of chastising to His flock. Beth Moore's gift of speaking and writing is amazing. She does an exceptional job of portraying what a kind, loving, and JOYFUL person he was. My eyes were opened to a whole new (and joyful!) way of looking at Jesus and the Bible (and the New Testament specifically)!
I found her book through a bible study class offered through my new church and I would HIGHLY recommend getting her CD (or DVD if it is offered) of this study because she has a phenomenal way of helping you to visualize the life Jesus led and the world He lived in.
I loved the book and the study so much that I am now looking for other books that she has written.
The Savior Longs to be Close to You Jul 30, 2003
Have you ever looked at Jesus Christ in a way much deeper than in the scriptures? A fire that lights up your soul. Such a romance with the Lord as if you have truly known him and walked with him. You have an open invitation to be part of it. 'Jesus One and Only' is that intimate look at the life of Christ. Beth Moore interweaves her own experiences with the Gospel of Luke to give you more brand new insights of the One who is the greatest best friend that you'll ever have. You can hear God speak to you in Beth's words, his caring, loving words to get you to fall in love with Jesus of Nazareth. Walk with him on the dusty roads of Israel, listen to him on a hillside teaching, encounter Him at the dinner table with sinners, or walks on the raging waves and calms the storm . Like the ragamuffin band of followers some 2,000 years ago, you will not be the same. As you read you will you come to know just how much He longs to be close to you. Moore is a wonderful and God-gifted writer. And she makes the gentle, loving Savior so irresistable who couldn't be changed after reading this. It's a much to read all her books. I recommend 'Things Pondered' and 'To Live is Christ.' She's truly one blessed writer, public speaker and teacher. Like to know more about her work? Visit-BethMoore.org.
