Item description for Paradox: The Spiritual Path to Transformation by Bernard Tickerhoof...
Overview Contradiction seems to be an inescapable reality in our lives. Our individual unfolding stories are tied up in struggles, frustrations, grieving, and confusion that arise because the events of life sometimes seem to go one way, then suddenly turn in the opposite direction. Doubts and contradictions can create a great deal of polarization within and without our faith communities. Yet learning to live with paradox-a reconciling of opposites-can open a liberating spiritual path to transformation. Paradox: The Spiritual Path To Transformation is meant for all those of us who struggle with belief at any times in our lives-not just belief in God or in Jesus, but belief in general. Fr. Bernard Tickerhoof grounds us in the Christian experience by exploring both the life and death of Jesus, who embodies the challenge, the hope, and the fulfillment of paradox. Paradox asks us to look at our lives as they really are. We need to recognize the times when our dreams are shattered and our paths are blocked. Paradox also affirms the fact that we can deal with the contradictions in our lives and move on to envision our dreams anew and discover new paths of the Spirit that have yet to open up.
Publishers Description A spirituality of Paradox sounds like an oxymoron. But Bernard Tickerhoof sees it otherwise. He grounds us in the Christian experience by exploring both the life and death of Jesus, who embodies the challenge the hope and the fullfilment of paradox. Paradox he says asks us to look at our lives as they really are. We need to recognize the times when our dreams are shattered and our paths are blocked. Paradox also affirms the fact that we can deal with the contradictions in our lives and move on to envision our dreams anew and discover new paths of the spirit that have yet to open up.

Reviews - What do customers think about Paradox: The Spiritual Path to Transformation?
Not your usual "chakras" ... much better Sep 15, 2009
Paradox is written by a life-involved Franciscan and teacher of new seminarians (Novices). It is neither a false "chakras" feel-good nor a discourse on catholicism. Using Jesus' own life and words as a first study, Tickerhoof shows that a healthy philosophy on life is one that embraces the opposing and seemingly contradictory, by acceptance of the paradox, the "both things happening at the same time", we all experience in everyday life. I highly recommend this book to anyone mystified or troubled by the shocking contradictions they see in their own lives or in the wider world of human existence, politics, war, finance, and family.
