Reviews - What do customers think about Korean: Korean-english/ English-korean (Berlitz Compact Dictionary S.)?
Very useful, but could use improvement Apr 21, 2009
This is an excellent dictionary if you are just learning Korean. It has many useful, everyday words, including slang translated easily into Korean.
There is also a section in the middle with some basic expressions, like Where is the bathroom? which is also helpful if you're a tourist and using this book to get by. However, there was much space taken by having word searches and romanization practice, when I think that space could have been better served with a basic grammar guide or something more beneficial.
My main problem with this dictionary is that the Korean-English section is alphabetized by the romanization of the word, then the hangul is only after it, which means to look up a new word one must romanize it first. I'm a little disappointed by that.
All in all, it's a great book, and I've found it very useful.
