Berlitz Deluxe Language Pack French (Berlitz Deluxe Language Pack) (Audio CD) Oct 3, 2007
This is one of the worst examples of teaching I have the dis-pleasure of working with. Most of the examples run long numerous phrases with the translation at the end. Many times you are asked to guess what is being said. I didn't purchase this to guess. There are few direct translations from English to French. I am instructor myself, and if I were to teach with this poor example attitude I would be fired within a week. I would have give half a star but there no provision for it that I can see. The packaging is great to bad Berlitz spend more time on proper teaching methods. So, don't waste your money.
Don't plan on playing the CDs on your computer or DVD player Dec 26, 2006
O.K. it's a good program, that's why I bought Berlitz. Millions have used it. But none of my three computers would play the CD's nor would my DVD player. I dug an old boom-box out of the closet and the CD's played fine. So they must have done something to the format of the CD's so that digital devices won't recognize them (probably some copy-protection thing). But it's just not convenient to drag yet another device along with me (laptop, mp3 player, phone and now a bulky CD player??). I think they should have prominently advertised this lack-of-compatibility.
Pretty good Jan 12, 2006
I bought this because i wanted to hear and learn the correct pronounciations of all the french words. In doing so i learned somthing about the french culture and thats the thing about berlitz, not only to they take you into a language but they also indulge you in the culture of it. It pretty much prepares beginners and intermediate french speakers. Before this i didnt know what part of my throat to use, oh and the nasal parts too. In a way u are introduced into the french life style, which turns out to be very relaxing and romantic(which is why they some how got beaten in WW1, WW2, etc. ) I learned that the french kick ass in their own way. Its makes u realize life is good, remember save up for ur retirement(if u live in the U.S.A) and get the heck out and go to france, because america will work ur ass to death. Literally!
