A Must Read! Feb 1, 2010
Every Christian should read this book! The Lord used Asahel Nettleton mightily in the Second Great Awakening. This easy to read biography, written by one of his personal friends, details Nettleton's itinerant preaching throughout New England. Modern Evangelicalism tends to assume that the doctrines commonly called Calvinistic will hamper the success of the Gospel, but Nettleton's doctrinal and reformed preaching, coupled with his caution in counseling awakened sinners, demonstrates that the doctrines of grace are wisely calculated by God to engender real faith and repentance. The volume includes specimens of Nettleton's sermons and emphasizes his methodology in preaching and counseling.
