Reviews - What do customers think about Legal Aspects of Infectious Diseases?
Good for all those interested in a basic overview of mass media microbiology Jul 23, 2007
This book provides a great review of microbiology for those who are interested not only from a legal point of view, but for those who only have a mass media (newspaper, tv, etc) knowledge of microbiology. Dr. Tanner brings the most important points, often highlighted in news reports, and expands them to a point so as not to fear, mislead, or overwhelm, but to enlighten. Chapters 13,12, 7, and 8 are points of interest, and deal with real world applied microbiology. The book is laid out in a fashion which is not intimidating and provides chapter summaries which should be included in all scientific journals as well as books. I have recommended this book to my non-major undergraduate students interested in microbiology from an outside point of view.
Insiders view into legal aspects of microbiology Jul 8, 2007
This book is clear, straight forward, and not intimidating to the non-microbiologist. At the same time, it delivers a real insider's view into critical legal aspects of microbiology- including a great description of False-negative and False-positive test results (Ch.6) and what can cause them, as well as excellent coverage of food and waterborne diseases- which are of increasing importance as more and more disease outbreaks occur associated with contaminated produce or produce wash water. This is not just another microbiology text- it is truly tailored to include legal insights that anyone would find fascinating and useful.
