Item description for Christian Dogma by Barry E. Blood Sr...
The objective of author Barry E. Blood's book, is to introduce Christian men and women --'the people in the pews' -- to facts about their religion that are not being shared from the pulpit. Knowledge that has come to light in the three thousand years since the Old Testament was written, but is being, conveniently, kept from the laity.
Barbara McIntire, one of the characters in the fictional portion of the book, becomes the alter ego for those readers who may have never been exposed to modern religious teachings and may find such knowledge a bit shocking or radical.
In the final chapters, Mr. Blood points to potential changes and reformations that could quite possibly allow Christianity to survive it's problems and continue to flourish in the intellectual society and worldview of the twenty-first century.

A Precursor of what's to Come Mar 9, 2007
I have given this book a five star rating due to it's importance in bringing all true followers of the Doctrine of Jesus Christ to an awareness of this movement that comes in His name, this is a must read. The doctrine that Mr. Blood describes in his book holds no great threat to the true believers in Christ's Divinity, but to those that have fallen upon the fringe of Christianity due to their being unfed according to their needs; by the leaders of their peculiar denomination. I urge all of my brethren of the clergy to read this book and recommend it to their congregates. It is a necessity that all those that hold Jesus Christ as the Son of God understand what lurks in the shadows of Christianity. <><
A Road Not Often Taken Jul 23, 2004
I opened Barry Blood's book, "Christian Dogma," hoping to find something beyond an emotional rehash of Christianity's core beliefs and their importance in our world today. Did I ever get a surprise!
Blood writes from both his heart and his head. I do not know his professional background, but this book is compelling and well executed. If you are a practicing Christian, reading "Christian Dogma" will challenge you to think very hard about your religious beliefs and practices at a very fundamental level. If you are not a Christian, Blood's book provides real insight into modal Christian thinking.
This is one of those rare books that will leave you much more aware and in touch with the religious convictions that you have taken for granted or perhaps have never really considered.
Now I would like to see Blood write about our country's political practices!
Christian Dogma: an awakening for modern "searchers" Jul 15, 2004
Barry Blood's book, CHRISTIAN DOGMA, arrived in my mailbox the 6th of July; I finished it on the 7th. The book is a fresh take on religion/Christianity/churches and all that those terms include and imply. Via email, I was informed of the book's publication only because Barry Blood is a former schoolmate of mine. I might have paid little or no attention to the subject IF that email had not come to me.
To the author, I wrote a similar version of the following comments. Long ago I RELEASED (for want of a more precise term) religion/church/usual beliefs and had almost forgotten how it felt to question any and all sets and fragments of belief in a divine being "out there." I experienced enormous freedom of reach and stretch and love and joy (truly) when I realized I no longer subscribed to or believed in god or gods or divine providence. That euphoric feeling and freedom continue to BE my life. This release has allowed love and caring to replace fear and guilt about life, both specifically and generally.
Blood's choices of support texts and materials provide good, strong guidelines (guides!) for anyone seeking knowledge of the evolution of logical and reasoned "truths" revealed and shared in these modern days. This is honest help for anyone looking for truths (as much as possible) rather than myths!
The book's simple inerwoven narrative is very likely what human SEARCHERS need to help ease themselves into understanding philosophical and theoretical materials which are necessary to explain what has happened and is happening in "religion."
I am pleased my old friend emailed us about the publication of CHRISTIAN DOGMA and doubly happy to have read it -- sped through it, as it were! This is a proper book for discussion of new and old ideas. Sharing both its chanllenges and conclusions with others just might call important attention to some of the scary ideas spouted to the world by deeply and wildly conservative religious groups and individuals who have so much influence on our lives, most especially outside the walls of their churches. For any reader with an open and curious mind, I strongly recommend CHRISTIAN DOGMA.
