Item description for Letter To The Hebrews (New Daily Study Bible) by William Barclay...
Overview At first glance, the letter to the Hebrews can seem difficult to comprehend, requiring readers to be familiar with an intricate system of Hebrew sacrifices so intimidating that some might just set the whole epistle aside. But William Barclay believed "that no New Testament book gives us such a glorious picture of Jesus Christ in all the splendor of his manhood and in all the majesty of his deity." So, amplified by his keen and vibrant commentary, this ancient letter emerges from apparent obscurity to be a vital resource of encouragement for Christians today.

Reviews - What do customers think about Letter To The Hebrews (New Daily Study Bible)?
The best volume in Barclay's NT Daily Study Bible Jul 7, 2006
Barclay is one of the most insightful commentators of the New Testament. Although much of the background information and schalorship in his commentaries are now outdated, his comments on the relevance of the Bible are still very valuable for today's discerning readers. This is especially true for his volume on Hebrews. For more updated commentary on Hebrews for beginning students, Tom Wright's "Hebrews For Everyone" is a very good choice. The volume on Hebrews in NIV Application Commentary series is excellent for slightly more advanced students.
Hebrews by Barclay Feb 18, 2006
We use this as a reference material in our Bible Study. We have used Barclay's resources for years and are never disappointed. His research and insight give much additional value to the Bible. We would not study without it.
Everything You Could Ever Want to Know About Hebrews Oct 14, 2005
Our adult Sunday school class is currently using this study. It is easy enough for all to read, yet challenging due to the background given into meanings of the words used in the original Greek. The author doesn't skip a chapter or verse, and ties all the concepts together beautifully. He also repeats central themes, and is an excellent teacher. It took us over two weeks to get 15 copies, but they were well worth the wait.
good Jul 17, 2005
This is probably the best volume in the New Daily Study Bible series. I would also recommend Hebrews for Everyone by Tom Wright and Hebrews by George H. Guthrie.
wonderful book Jul 25, 2000
Like pretty much all of Dr. Barclay's books, the Letter to the Hebrews makes the Bible verses that are so difficult to comprehend easy to understand and beautiful. His Bible studies are good whether you're reading the Bible for the first time or whether you're studying it in depth. He gives you a lot of historical background which really helps. I did find the section about priesthood (Hebrews chapter 7) slightly tedious, but that's my only complaint. It's definitely a worth while read.
